"Ephrem Zimbalist lived from 1889-1985 and was a star violinist during his lifelong career. He was a pupil of Leopold Auer at the St. Petersburg conservatory. He did much to revive the interest in violin music and inspired many new violinists while he was a member of the faculty at the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia, beginning as a teacher in 1928 then later a director from 1941-1961. This print was part of a two print series that commemorated the violin and violinists that made a contribution to music."
