This portrait was first made as a sketch of a local Indian from Hsia, New Mexico. The print was later crafted in New York on a stone plate, but it accidentally broke after only five prints were pulled. This print demonstrates Leo's formidable skills that he acquired after completing hundreds of portraits throughout his career.
